The largest land predator on earth today is the polar bear. In October and November, as many as 1200 bears gather on the icy tundra of Churchill, waiting for the sea in the bay to freeze so they can wander out in search of seals. Weighing in at around 600kg and standing up to 3m when on their hind legs, this is truly an animal to respect and the chance of seeing them in their own habitat is just the ultimate wildlife encounter.
>>
Hundreds of beautiful belugas congregate in the Churchill River estuary every summer to moult and nurse their young, and you can be there to witness this unbelievable spectacle. It’s not all just whale watching on this holiday, the black bear is another focus on this spectacular wildlife safari.
