The great white continent...
Spanning 14 million square kilometres, Antarctica is one and a half times bigger than the USA and although it may be the coldest and most desolate, it is also one of the most beautiful, peaceful and more accessible landscapes to visit for wildlife.
Those who travelled on the voyage last year saw many different species of bird from storm petrels and albatrosses to kelp gulls and Antarctic terns. There were also many sightings of minke, humpback and killer whales, different species of seal and millions of pairs of penguins were seen performing a display of courtship rituals.
Highlights included a dip in the waters of Pendulum Cove – which are surprisingly warm due to the heat from the volcanic activity underneath. The voyage is perfect if you fancy seeing the most sought after sights of the Antarctic Peninsula and the South Shetland Islands.
Prices for our Classic Antarctica voyage start from £1526 per person with departures on 19th and 28th November. December and February prices start from £2056 per person and departures are 7th December and 19th and 28th February 2005.
Alternatively you may wish to start planning for 2005/2006 season as spaces are already in high demand! Contact our Pole to Pole specialists on 01737 214 250 for further details or visit www.discovertheworld.co.uk/antarctic.
