Discover the World
The September Newsletter from the Discover the World Group 23rd September 2004
Welcome to the August edition of our monthly newsletter. We have lots of inspiring ideas in store this month and there are many interesting events and offers.

It's all happening in Stockholm
Get set for Tunnelloppet (the Tunnel Race)
Sweden's longest tunnel, Södra Länken, opens on October 24th but one week before the opening, the tunnel race will take place inside the tunnel. Participants will start and finish the 12km long race at the Globe Arena, so if you’re looking for an energetic short break, our Stockholm city break may be just the thing so pack those running shoes! For more information on this event visit www.tunnelloppet.se.

However if racing isn’t your thing, you can always opt for a leisurely stroll around the stylish city centre, which offers great shops, plenty of cafes and restaurants and not forgetting all those museums, over 100 to choose from! You might also want to purchase a Stockholm Card, which provides free admission to 75 museums and attractions throughout the city as well as free travel, parking and sightseeing offers – it’s a must have on this city break!

Stockholm Christmas Market
The Skansen Christmas market in Stockholm is one of the biggest in Sweden and dates back to 1903. The event takes place from 27th-28th November, 4th-5th and 11th-12th December and visitors can admire handicrafts in the Town Quarter, sample “glögg”, the traditional Swedish Christmas drink, and join in the dancing around the Christmas tree. The exhibitions around the old homesteads show how Swedes celebrated Christmas in bygone days and stalls along the market street sell scrumptious food, traditional Christmas ornaments, sweets and Christmas fare. You can also visit the Skansen Christmas fair, which attracts around 25,000 visitors! For more information visit www.skansen.se

Whether you want to run a race, check out the latest film talent or plan a festive break with a difference, we offer a 2-night short break to Stockholm from £265 per person based on twin share. Extra night prices start from £46 per person (based on twin share). Contact our Sweden team for more information on 01737 214 255 or visit www.discovertheworld.co.uk/sweden.
