Sleeping on Ice
An ice hotel experience has become one of our most popular winter breaks and we now offer an even wider range of ice hotels, ice igloos and ice castles throughout the Arctic region, all with their own special character. From Finnish Lapland to Quebec, an icy experience is not as far away as you may think. You’re bound to find one that appeals and it’s not too early to start deciding which one you want to ‘chill’ in. Availability is limited so here’s a little help…
THE ICEHOTEL, LAPLAND
This famous hotel is the original and largest ice hotel and is situated in Jukkasjarvi, in the heart of Swedish Lapland. You’ll spend one night in an ice room or can choose to upgrade to an ice suite, which are individually themed and are works of art! Our 3-night break starts from £813 based on two sharing and departures are available from 11th December 2004 through to April 2005.
FINNISH FREEZER
If you fancy Finnish Lapland, we have many different ice experiences available. How about an unforgettable long weekend at Kakslauttanen Cabins & Igloos? Here you can either stay in a log cabin, glass igloo or an ice room. You’ll have trouble choosing!
Hotel Pohtimo & Snowland may be the one for you if you fancy plunging through ice on the lake! Or you could of course just relax all weekend and enjoy the hotel’s wood and smoke sauna cabins. At Snowland, try ice sculpting or end the day at the Ice Restaurant and dine at -5°C!
‘Sleep on ice’ at the Snow hotel in Lainio Snow Village and try the underground sauna and ice bar before a day of activities. For younger snow lovers there is even an ice maze and snow slides! You’ll also enjoy the fabulous spa complex at Hotel Yllas Saaga, complete with Finnish wood sauna and a range of relaxing spa treatments, perfect after a hard day’s play in the snow!
If you like plenty of ice, snow and winter attractions, then Kemi Snow Castle on the Finnish coast is the place to be with the family this winter. With this trip you have the option of spending one night at the impressive snow castle, complete with turrets and a beautifully lit drawbridge.
In Finnish Lapland, you can be as active or restful as you like! Prices start from £483 with departures from October 2004 through to April 2005.
MUSK OX & GLACIERS
If you like the idea of remote wilderness, you’ll love Greenland and the true sense of adventure it has to offer. Our 6-night break gives visitors the opportunity to see a real arctic igloo…and sleep in one! Our smallest ice hotel holds the record for the lowest interior temperature – between -10 and -15°C! Prices for this 6-night break start from £748 per person based on two sharing. Departures are from January to the end of March 2005.
LET IT SNOW... ICEHOTEL, QUEBEC
The Icehotel in Quebec, only around 6 hours away by plane, is North America’s first ice hotel situated in the Duchesnay Forest Reserve and offers some of the region’s best-known wildlife includes beaver, otter and the most Canadian of all – moose. You may wish to extend your stay in either Quebec City or Montreal and extra nights can easily be arranged. Our 3-night break costs £798 per person based on two sharing with departures from 7th January to 3rd April 2005.
