Get ready for the Sweden Lobster season
Did you know that lobster fishing has been going on for many generations now and is as natural in Bohuslän as elk hunting is in many other parts of Sweden? Fishing techniques, tools and recipes have also been passed down for generations and you can find these on display at the Hunnebostrand fishing village, where the lobster academy is based. The Swedish Lobster Academy was founded in 1996 and is a non profit-making organisation, arranging lobster dinners and lobster safaris!
This year the lobster premiere starts on 27 September. The fishing boats get ready to fish for the ‘black gold’ and the local Grebbestad brewery releases the special lobster beer, delivered to the local restaurants along the west coast as well as in Gothenburg.
Many of the fishing villages arrange ‘Lobster weekends’ and one of the popular ones is Handelsman Flink, where our Lobster Safari tour is based. Our short break lets you explore Gothenburg city and then takes you to Bohuslan archipelago where you get to cruise the local bay in a specially chartered boat en route to the lobsterpots laid out earlier in the day. Enjoy a pre-prepared seafood picnic and then take your catch back to the hotel where you and the chef can prepare your fine dinner!
This indulgent 2-night break costs £678 per person based on two sharing and departures are 2nd, 9th, 16th and 23rd October 2004. To book this holiday or to find out more information, contact our Sweden team on 01737 214 255 or visit www.arctic-experience.co.uk.
