Discover the World
The Summer Newsletter from the Discover the World Group 6th July 2004
Welcome to the first edition of our quarterly newsletter. Our aim is to let you know about the latest happenings throughout our range of specialist holiday programmes - what's new, what's hot and what is in the pipeline!

California Blues
What could possibly get your pulses racing this summer - the sheer thought of seeing the largest creature on earth perhaps?

The range of wildlife sightings on the California Blues tour last year was staggering. We saw about 15 different species of whales and dolphins. There were Orcas and blue whales circling the boat and around 60 plus individual blue whales were seen over the whole week. We may well have had the best ever trip to date for any blue whale tour in the world!

We are incredibly privileged to have our own boat for a week, which increases the number of our encounters with the whales, gives us the opportunity to spend longer when we do get one of these special encounters and, most important of all, we have the space to move around the deck (again and again) as the whales go around and under the boat.

If you have never seen a blue whale before and it has been one of your lifelong dreams to see one, don’t feel blue, come to Monterey Bay, California and see this most incredible endangered species for yourselves.

Prices for this 8-night trip start from £1695 with departures on 28th August trip only. For more information or to book this holiday, contact our Wildlife Encounters team on 01737 218 802 or visit www.wildlife-encounters.co.uk for more information.

Right Whales and Wilderness Trails...
There are only around 300 endangered northern right whales left in the North Atlantic. So where would you go if you wanted to see one of these magnificent creatures? The Bay of Fundi of course!

Go bird and whale watching off the coast of Nova Scotia and take wilderness walks along wild coastlines, bird-rich wetlands and cool forests.

Prices for the Right Whales and Wilderness Trails tour start from £1175 per person for 6 nights with departures from July to mid-September.

For more information or to book this holiday please call our Wildlife Encounters team on 01737 218 802 or visit www.wildlife-encounters.co.uk for more information.

Trail of the Whale…
This 9-day adventure is based just north of Boston where we search for whales off the New England coast (not a difficult task!). Being in the company of local whale researchers, our specially chartered boat means close encounters are almost guaranteed!

You are almost certain to see humpbacks which frequently feed & rest within just a few yards of the boat! There are also many fin whales, minke whales and large schools of Atlantic white-sided dolphins in the area. During the holiday we expect to see all these species at close range!

Prices for On the Trail of the Whale are from £1575 per person and the tour departs on 18th August 2004. We can also offer an extended 2-day stay in Iceland.

For more information or to book this holiday, contact our Wildlife Encounters team on 01737 218 802 or visit www.wildlife-encounters.co.uk for more information.
