There is plenty to see and do in the Faroes but here are our top fantastic four…
F is for
feathers.. |
as in birds, the Faroes are full of them! The islands are renowned for superb bird watching opportunities and some of the North Atlantic’s largest colonies are home to around 3.5 million gannets, kittiwakes, storm petrels, fulmars, guillemots and puffins.
|
F is for
ferry.. |
hop on and explore some of the islands such as Mykines or Nolsoy, both beautiful islands with an abundant bird life. Boat tours are definitely recommended and a trip to the Vestmanna Cliffs on Streymoy is a major visitor attraction. Experience awesome displays of breeding birds and spectacular scenery as well as the opportunity to sail through narrow straights and into deep caves and grottos.
|
F is for
Faroes archipelago.. |
the delightful north islands of Kalsoy, Bordoy, Vidoy, Kunoy, Svinoy and Fugloy. These six islands offer diverse and impressive scenery, from sheer dramatic cliffs to picturesque fishing villages and of course excellent bird life. There are also several museums and other places of cultural interest to visit.
|
F is for
Fjallavatn.. |
Vagar Island is the gateway to the Faroes with the international airport. As you fly in you are given a wonderful introduction to the island’s beautiful scenery and picturesque villages. The island has a beautiful and some say mysterious lake called Fjallavatn, a must see that can be done as soon as you get off the plane!
